As such Muhammad utilized many stratagems of war against his enemies, including targeted assassination orders as well as at least one recorded case of mass execution of a troubling tribe of Jews. The sira tradition also portrays Muhammad as having been sensitive to criticism, particularly from poets, and he ordered that a number of poets who had made verses inveighing against him or mocking him should be executed.
