"Narrated Kurib: the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, that Maimuna bint Al-Harith told him that she manumitted a slave-girl without taking the permission of the Prophet. On the day when it was her turn to be with the Prophet, she said, "Do you know, O Allah's Apostle, that I have manumitted my slave-girl?" He said, "Have you really?" She replied in the affirmative. "The marriage of a Christian man to a Muslim woman is an invalid marriage. Allah says in the Quran, "And give not [Muslim women] in marriage to idolaters until they believe" (al-Baqara 221). Therefore, it is not allowed for a disbeliever to marry a Muslim woman... If he does marry her, the marriage is invalid. The children are the children of fornication.
